Product Description

The VMIC array of devices is a series that are initially developed and manufactured by the automated industrial branch of General Electric, and then was acquired by the industrial automation group, Abaco Systems. The VMIC line of devices ranges in functions such as converter boards (both digital to analog and analog to digital), an array of central processing units, and a series of analog and digital input and output boards. This unit is the VMIVME-2536 is a digital Input and Output board, designed with optical coupling for the input and output ports, and outfitted with a series of 32 channels. The input/outputs are designed with the optical coupling, and also features a Built-in Test capabilities, which allow for a self diagnostic and analysis program to run and evaluate the VMIVME-2536 model’s functionality. The unit’s Inputs are put into the test mode by placing a bit in the Control and Status Register (CSR). While in the test mode, data that is placed in onboard test registers are read through the input ports instead of field data. The test registers are at the same address as the input data ports, allowing testing to be done by simply writing to and reading from the data ports. This feature can be used for both online and offline testing. The VMIVME-2536 unit is able to provide a sustained 1 kilovolts of system isolation. The input ranges between 5 to 125 volts of direct current, and then a 300 milliampere current for sinking outputs, with a 50 volt maximum output voltage.
