The WOODWARD speed switch is an electronic device that senses rotational motion and speed. It receives signals in the form of frequencies from sensor devices (magnetoelectric speed sensors, Mini-Gen® signal generators, alternators, ignition coils). The frequency is then monitored by an electronic component inside the switch. When the speed or frequency reaches the desired setting or set point, the output relay connected to the control loop will be energized or turned on.
