The PROFIBUS-DP Communication Interface Module (FBM224) provides an interface between PROFIBUS-DP slave devices — such as motor drives, I/O modules, and field I/O devices — and the I/A Series system. PROFIBUS is a vendor-independent, open fieldbus standard for a wide range of applications in process automation and manufacturing. Vendor independence and openness are guaranteed by the PROFIBUS Fieldbus standard EN 50170, which specifies the functional, electrical, and mechanical characteristics for a serial transmission bus.

Understand the purpose of FBM224 P0926GG module in DCS • FBM224 P0926GG is a communication module with four isolated channels used to monitor and control analog input signals in a DCS system. • It allows for the measurement of the volume of flow that has accumulated since the last time the totalizer was reset. • The module provides separate indications of the quantity of forward and reverse flow, as well as computed values for the net total (forward flow minus reverse flow) and the grand total (forward flow minus reverse flow since last reset of grand total). • The totalizer is nonvolatile, which means that the accumulated values are retained over power cycles. • The module also supports pulse total features, which can be configured to provide pulse output for communication with a PC-Based Configurator or an I/A Series system. 2. Determine the configuration settings for FBM224 P0926GG • If you are going to use the Totalizer or Pulse Total features, configure the Totalizer to On; if not, configure it Off. • If you configure it On, specify the engineering units of the totals (Tots EGU), the format of Forward, Reverse, and Net Total (Tot/Net Format), and the format of Grand Total (Gr Tot Format). • Tots EGU also defines the units for a pulse from the pulse total output, if used. • With FoxCom transmitters, specify your output as Digital or Analog. Specify Analog if you want an analog 4 to 20 mA signal. In this mode, a 600 baud digital signal is superimposed over the 4 to 20 mA signal for communication with a PC-Based Configurator. Specify Digital if you want to have a 4800 baud digital signal for I/A Series system communication. • If you selected Digital on your FoxCom transmitter or with a fieldbus transmitter, specify Unidirectional (UniDir) or BiDirectional (BiDir) flow. If you want a pulse output, you must specify Unidirectional. The default setting is UniDir.
