Model 8290-189 is a Woodward speed control device that operates with a 24-volt system battery.  It is an isochronous device that can be used on various prime movers.  The product does not need the use of a hydraulic oil supply or mechanical drive to operate.  This specific model is compatible with diesel engines.  It comes from the Electrically Powered Governor series and is part of a full EPG system.  Model 8290-189 is a speed control device designed for precision.  It makes use of switch-selected dual dynamics, and load-sharing accessories can be optionally used with it. Specifications for model 8290-189 include; Approximate workload weight of 1.7 pounds. A 95-watt maximum power consumption. Minimum 5A battery charger capability. An actuator rotation of 30 to 35 degrees. Speed range of 3000Hz to 6000Hz. To create an entire EPG system an actuator, speed control, and magnetic pickup are all needed.  Actuator model options for speed control device 8290-189 are 524 or 724.  Any actuators will have serrated output shafts.

The Electrically Power Governor (EPG) is designed for precise isochronous speed control of diesel engines.  The electric governor is especially suited for prime movers without a mechanical drive or hydraulic oil supply for the governor and which have low-mass, low friction fuel linkages.

EPG’s are part of a complete control system consisting of three-components including:

Electronic speed control

Electric Actuator (ordered separately, see options below for 24 V applications)

Magnetic pickup (ordered separately)

Model 724 Full governor travel of 35°, 2.3 J (1.7 ft-lb) (Item: 8256-016)

All actuator output shafts are 0.375"-36 SAE serrated on each end
