Description

The REF 545 feeder terminal can be used with different kinds of switchgear, including single busbar, double busbar and duplex systems. The protection functions also support different types of networks, such as, isolated neutral networks, resonant-earthed networks and partially earthed networks. The application area also covers medium-sized three phase asynchronous motors as well as protection and control of shunt capacitor banks used for reactive power compensation. In addition to protection, measurement, control, condition monitoring and general functions, the REF 545 feeder terminals are provided with a large amount of PLC functions, which allow for several automation and sequence logic functions, needed for substation automation, to be integrated into one unit. The data communication properties include the following communication standards: SPA bus, LON bus, IEC 60870-5-103, IEC 61850 via SPA-ZC 400, Profibus DPV1 via SPA-ZC 302, DNP 3.0 and Modbus communication with higher level equipment. Further, the LON communication together with the PLC functions minimizes the need for hardwiring between the feeder terminals. Protection functions Protection is one of the most important functions of the REF 545 feeder terminal.    Theprotection function blocks are independent ofeach other and have their own setting groups,data recording, etc.Either Rogowski coils or conventional current transformers can be used for protectionfunctions based on current measurement.   Correspondingly, voltage dividers or voltagetransformers are used for protection functionsbased on voltage measurement. Measurement functions The measurement functions include threephase currents, neutral current, three-phasevoltages, residual voltage, frequency, activeand reactive power and power factor.   In addition, other measurement functions are available. As a standard feature the REF 545 terminalincludes pulse counter inputs.   The number ofpulse inputs varies from 7 (REF 541) to 10(REF 545) according to the REF variant. Overtemperature indication The REF 545 feeder terminal includes aninternal temperature supervision function.The power supply module issues an internalalarm signal when overtemperature has beendetected inside the terminal enclosure. Thealarm signal will be activated once the temperature inside the terminal enclosureincreases to +78°C (+75°...+83°C). Overtemperature indication is available in thefeeder terminal configuration and can be configured to activate an alarms.
