Description

The speed input module 70EI06aprocesses the pulse signals from aspeed sensor, calculates the speedof the turbine, then based on userdefined criteria outputs the speedmeasurement and other indicationsto the P13 local bus.  The modulealso provides two relay contactsfor protection applications, e.g.electrical 2oo3 voting. The 70EI06a converts the pulse signals from a speedtransmitter into two frequency proportional signalson the local bus and features various algorithms forsupervision of standstill, overspeed, and over acceleration in addition to general faults of the frequencymeasurement or probes themselves. Using the front panel configuration port and the P13Configurator software, the module can be monitoredand configured for different operating modes andfault conditioning. The module replaces the measuring transducer UA379(including the UT386 monitoring module) and the70EI05a-E input module for rotational speed.  It isa fully functional replacement for both cards, addingdirect support for eddy-current probes and featuring aSIL3 rated overspeed protection according IEC 61508. Some changes in field wiring and configuration mightbe required, depending on the actual application.
