Product descriptionTraditional I/O subsystems include: I/O interface carrier (surface mounted DIN rail) on which all I/O related components are mounted. ● Provide a large amount of AC to 24V DC power for field equipment. An I/O interface consisting of an I/O card and an I/O terminal block. Various analog and discrete I/O cards are encapsulated in a common form factor that can be easily inserted into their I/O interface carrier. ● Various I/O terminal blocks installed on the I/O interface carrier can be pre-wired before the I/O card is installed I/O card A variety of analog and discrete I/O cards are available to meet your specific requirements. The following cards support simplexor redundancy installation: ● AI 4-20ma HART 8 channel ● AO-4-20 mA HART 8 channel ● DI, 24V DC dry contact, 8 channels ● DO 24V DC High-Side, 8 channels ● AI (Plus) 4-20 mA HART, 16 channels ● AO (Plus) 4-20 mA HART, 16 channels ● DI (Plus) 24V DC, dry contact, 32 channels ● DO (Plus) 24V DC, High-Side, 32 channels The following I/O cards support simplex formats to meet your field wiring needs. ● AI isolation, 4 channels ● RTD, 8 channels ● Thermocouple, 8 channels, millivolts, 8 channels ● DI, high density, 32 channels ● DI 24V DC isolation, 8 channels ● Multi-functional, 4 channels (isolated DI) ● Event sequence, 16 channels (DI 24v DC) ● DI 120V AC low side detection, 8 channels ● DI 120V AC isolation, 8 channels ● DO 24V DC isolation, 8 channels ● DO 120/230V AC high side, 8 channels ● DO 120/230 isolation, 8 channels
I/O card redundancy Redundant I/O cards can be used for critical applications. The same card can be used for single or redundant applications. When mounted on two wide redundant terminal blocks, the card is recognized as a redundant pair by the controller. The controller scans each card and determines which card is the active interface. When a fault is detected, the system automatically switches to the standby I/O card. The DeltaV control module reference single is the same as the redundant anti /O channel. No special configuration requires redundancy. Switching of redundant I/O cards is done in two scans of the I/O bus. Closing the contact before breaking ensures that the digital field instrument remains powered and the process is not disturbed. The analog output signal is briefly driven by both cards for <5 milliseconds during card switching. Hardware Alerts automatically report hardware integrity errors for both primary and secondary cards. Any events that result in a switch are also automatically reported via system hardware alerts and recorded in the event chronicle. Events that can cause a switch include: ● Hardware failure in the active card. ● Communication between the active card and the controller fails. ● On-site wiring fault detection
