Description
The REF 543 feeder terminal can be used with different kinds of switchgear, including single busbar, double busbar and duplex systems. The protection functions also support different types of networks, such as, isolated neutral networks, resonant-earthed networks and partially earthed networks. The application area also covers medium-sized three phase asynchronous motors as well as protection and control of shunt capacitor banks used for reactive power compensation. In addition to protection, measurement, control, condition monitoring and general functions, the REF 543 feeder terminals are provided with a large amount of PLC functions, which allow for several automation and sequence logic functions, needed for substation automation, to be integrated into one unit. The data communication properties include the following communication standards: SPA bus, LON bus, IEC 60870-5-103, IEC 61850 via SPA-ZC 400, Profibus DPV1 via SPA-ZC 302, DNP 3.0 and Modbus communication with higher level equipment. Further, the LON communication together with the PLC functions minimizes the need for hardwiring between the feeder terminals.

Condition monitoring functions Condition monitoring function blocks such assupervision of the energizing current andvoltage input circuit, operation time counter,circuit breaker electric wear, scheduled maintenance, trip circuit supervision and breakertravel time are available for the REF 54_feeder terminals. General functions Additional functions are available for different general purposes to be used in logics suchas activation of MMI backlight, switchgroups, and resetting of operation indications,latched output signals, registers and disturbance recorder. Standard functions Standard functions are used for logics such asinterlocking, alarming and control sequencing. The use of logic functions is not limitedand the functions can be interconnected witheach other as well as with protection, measurement, power quality, control, conditionmonitoring and general functions. In addition,the digital inputs and outputs and LON inputsand outputs can be connected to standardfunctions by using the Relay ConfigurationTool.
Digital outputs The outputs of the feeder terminal are categorized as follows: • HSPO: High-speed power output, doublepole contact, preferred for tripping purposes and for circuit breaker and disconnector control • PO: Power output, either single-pole ordouble-pole contact, preferred for circuitbreaker and disconnector control • SO: Signal output, either NO (NormallyOpen) or NO/NC (Normally Open/Normally Closed) contact. The output contactis a normal-duty contact and cannot beused for controlling a heavy load such as acircuit breaker. Analogue outputs The REF 541 and REF 543feeder terminalsequipped with anRTD/analoguemodule havefour general purpose 0...20 mA analogue cur-rent outputs. All outputs are galvanically isolated from the supply and enclosure of thefeeder terminal and from each other. Analogue outputs can be applied when interfacing with panels meters, existing station equipment, etc.
