REU615 is a voltage protection and control relay for voltage and frequency-based protection in utility and industrial power distribution systems, including networks with distributed power generation. REU615 is also ideal for voltage regulation. REU615 is a member of ABB’s Relion® product family and part of its 615 protection and control series of relays. The voltage protection and control relay REU615 is available intwo standard configurations, denoted A and B. Configuration Ais preadapted for voltage and frequency-based protectionschemes in utility and industrial power systems and distributionsystems including networks with distributed power generation. The B configuration is designed for automatic voltageregulation of power transformers equipped with an on-load tapchanger. Both configurations also feature additional CBcontrol, measuring and supervising functions. REU615 is amember of ABB’s Relion® product family and part of its 615protection and control product series. The 615 series relays arecharacterized by their compactness and withdrawable-unitdesign. Re-engineered from the ground up, the 615 series has beendesigned to unleash the full potential of the IEC 61850 standardfor communication and interoperability between substationautomation devices. Once the standard configuration relay hasbeen given the application-specific settings, it can directly beput into service. The 615 series relays support a range of communicationprotocols including IEC 61850 with Edition 2 support, processbus according to IEC 61850-9-2 LE, IEC 60870-5-103,Modbus® and DNP3. Profibus DPV1 communication protocol issupported by using the protocol converter SPA-ZC 302.
REU615 is available in two standard configurations. Thestandard signal configuration can be altered by means of thesignal matrix or the graphical application functionality of theProtection and Control IED Manager PCM600. Further, theapplication configuration functionality of PCM600 supports thecreation of multi-layer logic functions using various logicalelements, including timers and flip-flops. By combiningprotection functions with logic function blocks, the relayconfiguration can be adapted to user-specific applicationrequirements. The relay is delivered from the factory with default connectionsdescribed in the functional diagrams for binary inputs, binaryoutputs, function-to-function connections and alarm LEDs.Some of the supported functions in REU615 must be addedwith the Application Configuration tool to be available in theSignal Matrix tool and in the relay. The positive measuringdirection of directional protection functions is towards theoutgoing feeder.
