Description: The IC694CHS392 is a 10-slot serial expansion baseplate from the PACSystem RX3i Programmable Automation Controller (PLC) platform. Formerly manufactured by GE Fanuc, now under Emerson Automation, this baseplate allows extension of the main rack using an I/O expansion cable with a maximum length of 15 meters (50 feet). This rack supports standard I/O modules of the PACSystem RX3i platform.

The IC694CHS392 is part of the PACSystem RX3i Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) platform. The IC694CHS392 uses an extension cable for connection to the CPU backplane. Appropriate serial expansion cable has catalog number IC693CBL302 with a maximum cable length of 15 meters or 50 feet. Up to Seven (7) serial expansion backplanes can be connected to the backplane hosting the CPU. If only expansion backplanes are used regardless of the number of backplanes installed, the maximum distance from the CPU to the last expansion backplane shall not exceed 15 meters or 50 feet still The IC694CHS392 can be interconnected with a variety of backplanes such as the 5-slot backplane with catalog number IC694CHS398 or the series 90-30 expansion backplane with catalog number IC693CHS392. Any combination of backplanes is allowed as long as the cable length is met, and a terminating resistor with catalog number IC693ACC307 is installed to the last backplane signifying the end of the connection. The IC694CHS392 requires the use of a power supply to provide local power to the installed modules. Compatible power supplies include RX3i Serial Expansion Power Supply, 120/240 VAC, 125 VDC with part number IC694PWR321; High capacity 120/240 VAC, 125 VDC power supply with catalog number IC694PWR330; and high-capacity 24 VDC power supply with order number IC694PWR331; this serial expansion backplane is panel mounted to the enclosure subpanel, fastened through the provided mounting tabs. The IC694CHS392 backplane has been designed and manufactured by GE Fanuc to be a serial expansion backplane in a GE Fanuc RX3i PACSystems PLC. This serial expansion backplane forms part of the base on which the RX3i PLC is built. It has 10 slots that different modules can be installed in. Regular PLCs have just 1 universal backplane on which they are built, but expansion systems or expansion PLCs have 1 universal backplane and at least 1 remote backplane or 1 expansion backplane such as the IC694CHS392 serial expansion backplane as their bases. When the IC694CHS392 serial expansion backplane is connected to a universal backplane, both backplanes can accommodate a total of 19 modules which can be analog, discrete, or special-function modules. The GE Fanuc RX3i IC694CHS392 serial expansion backplane can be located up to 50 feet or 15 meters away from the universal backplane that it is connected to with an expansion cable that comes with a terminating resistor. This expansion backplane can be mounted on the front face of a 19-inch rack with front mount adapter brackets or it can be mounted inside a 19-inch rack with recessed mount adapter brackets. The leftmost slot in the IC694CHS392 serial expansion backplane is made to host the serial expansion power supply. These serial expansion power supplies can be normal power supplies or high-capacity power supplies. This backplane does not support hot insertion or hot removal. It comes with a DIP switch for selecting the rack number, and this switch needs to be set properly before any modules are installed.
