The Bently Nevada* Electronic Overspeed Detection System for the 3500 SeriesMachinery Detection System provides a highly reliable, fast response, redundanttachometer system intended specifically for use as part of an overspeedprotection system. It is designed to meet the requirements of AmericanPetroleum Institute (API) Standards 670 and 612 pertaining to overspeedprotection. 3500/53M modules can be combined to form a 2-out-of-2 or a 2-out-of-3(recommended) voting system. The Overspeed Detection System requires the use of a 3500 rack with redundantpower supplies.
Specifications Inputs Signal:Each Overspeed Detectionmodule accepts a singletransducer signal from aproximity probe transducer ormagnetic pickup. The input signalrange is +10.0 V to -24.0 V. Themodule internally limits signalsthat exceed this range. Input Impedance:20 k . Power Consumption:8.0 watts, typical Outputs OK LED:Indicates when the 3500/53MModule is operating properly. TX/XR LED:Indicates when the 3500/53MModule is communicating withother modules in the 3500 rack. Bypass LED:Indicates when the 3500/53MModule is in Bypass Mode. Test Mode LED:Indicates when the 3500/53M is inTest Mode. TransducerPower Supply:-24 Vdc, 40 mA maximum. BufferedTransducerOutputs:The front of each module has onecoaxial connector for bufferedoutput. Each connector is shortcircuit and ESD protected. Recorder:+4 to +20 mA. Value isproportional to module full-scalerange (rpm). Module operation isunaffected by short circuits onrecorder output.
