The Honeywell Searchline Excel is an infrared open-path flammable gas detector fully certified for hazardous area use. It can be deployed in harsh environments and remains unaffected by sunlight or radiation from storms and flare stacks, making it an ideal choice for the oil and gas sector. The receiver recognises a pulse duration and shape created by a xenon flash lamp and disregards interfering signals. A filter is included to ensure operational integrity in fog or rain conditions. The DX termination unit (UL only) is for mounting and field wire connections, with an intrinsically safe socket for the handheld interrogator used for configuration and maintenance. Included is a multi-drop Modbus RS485 interface. To directly connect the Searchline Excel (ATEX/IECEx versions), you need to use the handheld interrogator with the SHC protection device module. But before making the connection, ensure the area is made safe. Pair the Searchline with an XNX or OELD smart junction box to avoid area declassification, which allows for non-intrusive configuration and maintenance. A telescope, handheld interrogator, filters, and carrying case are included in a kit to align the transmitter and receiver. The system can be quickly checked using the inbuilt gas test facility.
