• If an external power source is employed to ensure contact wetting, it is essential to connect the common terminal of the external source to the discrete input common of the FTM.
• Each of the two sets of relay drivers (Discrete Outputs) necessitates its own external power supply.
• The power source for contact wetting, whether it's an Internal or External Discrete Input, benefits from short circuit current limiting directly onboard the FTM. Thanks to this protective measure, the module is incapable of detecting a power fault condition located at the FTM.
• While the module does keep tabs on the power source to the FTM, the scope of fault coverage is confined to internal module anomalies. For situations where the discrete input power holds critical significance, Woodward recommends monitoring the voltage using one of the discrete inputs. Achieving this entails designating one discrete input for the monitoring task. By configuring a jumper for this input to consistently read logic high (TRUE), any indication of a logic level low (FALSE) in the dedicated discrete input signal can be flagged by the GAP application. This provides the capability to initiate appropriate actions in response to a power fault on the Discrete I/O FTM.
