The TRICON 8302A Remote Expansion Rack is a high-performance remote input/output (I/O) system for industrial automation control systems. The rack can be connected to the central processor unit via a remote communication line to achieve remote transmission and processing of input/output data. This product is an important part of the TRICON family of control systems. Tricon CX system architecture and secure smart cabinets
Based on its experience with TMR technology, Schneider released the Tricon CX security system in 2018. Tricon CX is Triconex's latest SIL3-level triple redundancy (TMR) based security system, combining the benefits of reliability, availability and information security features with enhanced functionality to ensure continuous production, equipment uptime and overall productivity.
The Tricon CX system is a rack-extension structure with triplex I/O BUS connections between the racks. The system can connect at least one host rack and up to 15 expansion racks with 90 I/O cards. The Tricon CX system also supports remote extension racks.
Each expansion rack has six logical I/O slots. Each logical slot has two physical slots in hot standby mode for online non-stop replacement of a faulty I/O card. The Tricon CX system has a maximum I/O point processing capacity of 2880 per controller.
The connection between the host frame and the extension frame can be made by triple redundant serial fiber connection or by star connection.
The expansion rack can be installed in a Safety Intelligent Enclosure (SIE) designed to be mounted near field meters to reduce the number of main cables. The Secure Smart Cabinet (SIE) consists of a stainless steel cabinet, Tricon CX I/O expansion rack, universal input/output (UIO) module, power supply, fan, and terminal panel. Pre-installed and tested, these devices can be installed directly to the field and connected to a variety of field devices.
SIE supports up to four UIO modules, supports up to 64 TMR I/O points, and the input/output types of software configuration available to users, greatly improving the flexibility of engineering design installation. SIE supports star and Daisy chain network topologies for I/O buses. SIE provides redundant 24 VDC and 120/240 VAC power inputs.
SIE has on-site protection, anti-corrosion and explosion-proof design to meet the requirements of on-site installation.
