Description

Tricon Overview Base plate • Main box - house main processor, memory backup battery, communication module and I/O module. • Expansion chassis - for additional i /O modules 100 feet (30 meters) from the main chassis.  In limited applications, it can support operations up to 1,000 feet (300 meters). • RXM chassis - for I/O modules, 7.5 miles (12 km) from main chassis. • Mechanical keying - Each slot in Tricon is mechanically keyed to correspond to a specific type of module.  This prevents the module from being installed in an inappropriate slot. Power module • Provides logical power for modules in Main, Expansion, or RXMChassis.  Available in 24 VDC, 115VAC and 230 VAC versions.  Each power supply is rated at 175 watts at 140°F(60°C). Main processor • The main processor performs system diagnostics and user-written control programs.

Communication module • The triconex Communication Module (TCM) supports many triconex protocols and applications as well as user-written applications oneethernet(802.3) networks, including triconstation, Modbus tcp, and OPC.  It also supports rs-232 and RS-485 serial communication for time synchronization with Modbus devices, TriStation1131 and GPS. • The Enhanced Intelligent Communication Module (EICM) supports RS-232, RS-422 and RS485 serial communication with modbus devices and TriStation1131. • The Network Communication Module (NCM) supports many triconex protocols and applications as well as user-written applications oneethernet(802.3) networks, including trstation 1131. • The Security Management Module (SMM) serves as the interface between the Triconcontroller and the Honeywell Universal Control Network (UCN), one of the three main networks of the TDC-3000 DCS. • The Hiway Interface module (HIM) serves as the interface between the Triconcontroller and the HoneywellTDC-3000 Hiway gateway and Local Control Network (LCN). • The Advanced Communication Module (ACM) allows the Tricon controller to interface with Foxboro Industrial Automation (I/ a) series DCS and trstation 1131. Optical Fiber Remote Expansion Module (RXM) • The extension chassis can be operated up to 7.5 miles (12 km) from the main chassis and has excellent immunity to static and electromagnetic interference.

Interface module • The HART analog input interface module acts as the interface between the 4-20 mA analog input point from the HART smart device in the field and the HART host software running in the aPC. • The HART analog Output interface module acts as an interface between 4-20 mA analog output points from HART smart devices in the field and HART host software running in the aPC. I/O module • Digital input modules receive discrete signals at these nominal voltages :115 VAC/VDC, 48VAC/VDC and 24 VAC/VDC.  All voltages are provided in the tmrmodule.  Non-tmr modules are available in 24 VDC and 48 VDC.  Speed input and accumulation modules are also available. • Supervise the digital output module to generate discrete output signals of these nominal voltages, with diagnostic coverage of field circuits and load devices :115 VAC,120 VDC, 48 VDC and 24 VDC. • Digital output modules generate discrete output signals at these rated voltages :115 VAC, 12018 svdc, 24 VDC and 48 VDC.  Dual output modules are also available. • Analog input modules receive these types of analog signals :0-5VDC, -5 to +5 VDC, 0-10 VDC, thermocouple types J, K, T, and e. Available in isolated and D-coupled versions. • Analog output modules are available in these versions :8 output points in 4-20 mA;  6 4-20ma output points, 2 20-320mA output points;  And four output points in -60 to 60 mA.
