Main Processor Modulesand Baseplates Every Trident system is controlled bythree Main Processor (MP) Modulesthat reside on a single baseplate. EachMP Module acts as one channel of thetriplicated Trident system. Communication Module andBaseplate The Communication Module (CM) is athree-to-one interface to the MPs thatenables use of industry-standardcommunication protocols. A singleTrident controller can support up to twoCMs on one CM Baseplate with eachCM operating independently. Two CMscan provide redundant communicationconnections or independent communication ports. Analog Input Moduleand Baseplates Each Analog Input (AI) Module hasthree isolated channels which independently process analog inputs from fielddevices. Each channel transmits the datato the MP associated with the channel.The MPs vote the data before passing itto the application. For details, seepage 32. Analog Input/Digital Input Moduleand Baseplates
Each Analog Input/Digital Input (AI/DI)Module has three isolated channelswhich independently process analog anddigital inputs from field devices. Eachchannel transmits the data to the MPassociated with the channel. The MPsvote the data before passing it to theapplication.
Analog Output Modulesand Baseplates
Each Analog Output (AO) Module hasthree isolated channels which independently accept data from the MPs. Votercircuitry selects a single channel to drivethe output and shunts output from theother channels.
