REC650 offers an optimum ‘off-the-shelf’ solution for apparatus control of a single breaker in single and double busbar arrangements. The type-tested variants are equipped and configured with extensive monitoring functionality, and with default parameters for easy handling of products – from ordering, engineering, and commissioning to reliable operation. The 650 series IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Device) have a number of useful features, such as a significantly reduced number of parameter settings and extended IED HMI functionality, including 15 dynamic three-color indication LEDs per page, on up to three pages, and configurable push-button shortcuts for different actions. In the 650 series IEDs, the most basic parameters are set before delivery from the factory. You only need to set the parameters specific to your application. This allows you to quickly take your IEDs into operation. The application manual includes setting examples to support your protection engineers. REC650 is used for the control, protection andmonitoring of different types of bays in powernetworks. The IED is especially suitable for applicationsin control systems with distributed control IEDs in allbays with high demands on reliability. It is suitable forthe control of all apparatuses in the followingswitchgear arrangements: • Single busbar, with a single circuit breaker • Double busbar, with a single circuit breaker The control is performed from remote (SCADA/Station)through various communication protocols or from thelocal HMI. Different control configurations can be used, and onecontrol IED per bay is recommended. Interlockingmodules are available for common types of switchgeararrangements. The control is based on the select beforeexecute principle to give highest possible security. Asynchronism control function is available to interlockbreaker closing. A synchronizing function where breakercloses at the right instance in asynchronous networks isalso provided. Disturbance recording is available to allow independentpost-fault analysis after primary disturbances. The package is configured and ready for direct use.Analog and control circuits have been pre-defined andother signals need to be applied as required for eachapplication. The pre-configured IED can be changed andadapted to suit specific applications with the graphicalconfiguration tool. Forcing of binary inputs and outputs is a convenient wayto test wiring in substations as well as testingconfiguration logic in the IEDs. Basically it means that allbinary inputs and outputs on the IED I/O modules (BOM,BIM and IOM) can be forced to arbitrary values. Central Account Management is an authenticationinfrastructure that offers a secure solution for enforcingaccess control to IEDs and other systems within asubstation. This incorporates management of useraccounts, roles and certificates and the distribution ofsuch, a procedure completely transparent to the user. The Flexible Product Naming allows the customer to usean IED-vendor independent 61850 model of the IED. Thiscustomer model will be used as the IEC 61850 datamodel, but all other aspects of the IED will remainunchanged (e.g., names on the local HMI and names inthe tools). This offers significant flexibility to adapt theIED to the customers system and standard solution.
